Teoxane® RHA – the 4th Dimension in HA fillers
Teoxane® RHA dermal fillers are different from traditional hyaluronic (HA) fillers in their ability to recoil and spring back to their original shape after being altered, stretched, bent or compressed. This phenomenon is referred to as resilience and is the fourth dimension in HA injectable fillers. RHA stands for resilient HA.
Most injectable fillers work in 3 dimensions enabling the injector to enhance depth, width and/or height of the treated area as desired. In areas of increased facial motion, however, most fillers are absorbed much quicker by the body due to overactive muscle forces.
For instance, filler placed in the deep frown lines or glabella between the eyebrows tends to go away more quickly than when placed in other areas. The use of Botox® in combination with filler in the glabella can prolong the effects of filler. Such a phenomenon is also seen in other areas with hyperactive facial motion such as the lip lines and mouth lines.
The use of Teoxane® in these hyper-mobile facial areas can enhance and prolong duration of results. Teoxane® is currently available in multiple forms including RHA 2, RHA 3 and RHA 4. RHA 2 is for finer lines whereas as RHA 3 and RHA 4 are for drop lines, grooves and hollow areas.
Generally speaking, Teoxane® may give a better result for a longer period of time than other HA fillers like Restylane® or Juvéderm®. Teoxane® is especially ideal for dynamic wrinkles which are hyper-mobile compared to static wrinkles.
