Question: I am 67 and have had fillers in my temples and cheeks, but they don’t last. You commented on specialty fillers such as Bellafill which lasts 5 years. Other than the longer duration, are there other differences between specialty and temporary fillers?

Answer: While facial areas such as the cheeks and temples can be treated with temporary as well as specialty fillers, most patients get tired of refilling with temporary fillers. Unlike a temporary injectable, specialty fillers require an expert injector who is also a specialist injector with extensive knowledge of facial anatomy.

Many doctors who are not facial plastic surgeons or specialist injectors tend to place fillers within the skin level. This approach limits the type of result one can get from injectable fillers. • Sound judgement in identifying which facial areas should be treated conservatively in order to give a natural result
• Precise technique
