As one of the first plastic surgeons in the country to offer Restylane® when it first became available in the U.S. during the 1990s, Dr. Mandal has considerable experience in creating beautiful results with Restylane®. Restylane® is a temporary, dermal filler consisting of hyaluronic acid gel and, in most cases, Lidocaine, for numbing.
Dr. Mandal personally performs all Restylane® treatments on her patients. Her unique approach to artistically sculpting the face is why patients seek her skills. Because many plastic surgeons do not offer the entire Restylane® family of injectables, patients are unaware that Restylane® has evolved over the years into 7 different types, all of which are FDA approved.
An Expert Injector
As an Expert Injector, Dr. Mandal offers the full line of Restylane® fillers to individualize treatment for a diverse number of facial areas and a broad range of concerns. Restylane® can smooth fine lines, grooves, and deep wrinkles, sculpt and define lips, contour the face, and treat dynamic as well as static wrinkles. However, detailed knowledge of the subtleties between different Restylane® products and a depth understanding of the intricate facial anatomy are as important as excellent injector skill when it comes to achieving satisfying results.
As a clear gel of hyaluronic acid (HA), Restylane® is specifically formulated to act similarly to your body’s own hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is an essential matrix component found throughout your entire face and body and is necessary for the support of numerous tissues.

The portfolio for the Restylane® family of fillers has expanded over the years to include:
Craft The Lips You Want With Precise, Targeted Injections To Restore Natural-Looking Volume And Kysse-able softness.
Lips lose volume, color, and elasticity with age. Restylane® Kysse can add volume, smooth lip lines and enhances lip color. Designed specifically for movement of lips, Restylane® Kysse is the first to be made with XpresHAn Technology, an innovative cross-linking gel for precise, natural-looking results allowing flexible movement and proven to last for up to 1 year. It enhances lip texture and color while maintaining a full range of expressions.
Defyne Your Facial Expressions To Maintain Natural Movement To Keep Looking Like You.
Crafted with XpresHAn Technology™, Restylane® Defyne helps smooth out deep laugh lines (nasolabial folds and marionette lines), while helping you maintain your natural expressions. Defyne is most suitable for areas that require both support and definition.
Fight Signs of Facial Aging
Reveal a younger-looking you with Restylane® to add volume and fullness to the skin by correcting moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds as well as enhancing the lips. Restylane® is useful for the lip vermilion border to create subtle definition to a very fine area.
Restylane® Contour is the latest addition to the Restylane® family of fillers. As we age and lose volume in the midface, we also lose definition in the cheeks. Restylane® Contour is the only cheek filler with XpresHAn Technology™ that restores your natural contour, frees dynamic expression, and refreshes your look.
Silkier, Smoother, Natural Looking Lips.
Restylane® Silk is the first FDA-approved product specifically designed for lip augmentation and the smoothing of lines around the mouth. With age, the lips become thin, lose their youthful shape and develop vertical lines above and below the lip. Restylane® Silk is formulated as smaller, smoother hyaluronic acid particles to fill the finer lines without giving a bumpy or overfilled appearance, restoring a more natural looking lip region.
Natural Results That Refyne Your Laugh Lines.
Restylane® Refyne, designed with XpresHAn Technology™, helps soften deeper laugh deeper lines, wrinkles and grooves while allowing you to maintaining your natural facial expressions of smiling, frowning and puckering. Refyne is for softer support and definition than Defyne, but can add more fullness that looks softer.
Face Your Hands: The First And Only Hyaluronic Acid Filler FDA Approved To Treat Both Face And Hands
As you age, your natural fat begins to deteriorate, resulting in sagging skin, more prominent wrinkles and loss of volume. Restylane® Lyft, formerly known as Perlane-L®, can restore volume loss and treat wrinkles in the cheeks, mid face and back of your hands allowing you to complete your look, all in the same appointment.
What to Expect from Treatment
Dr. Mandal personally performs all Restylane® injections on her patients rather than using a nurse or physician assistant. Restylane® is available in approximately 1cc syringes with the option of lidocaine as a numbing agent for a more comfortable treatment experience. For those very rare patients with a true lidocaine allergy, Restylane® is also available without lidocaine. Dr. Mandal uses a very tiny needle specifically designed for Restylane® treatments which take 5 to 30 minutes. Most routine activities can be resumed immediately.
Patients with a history of cold sores should notify our office in advance of treatment to determine if anti-viral prophylaxis should be prescribed. Patients who are allergic to lidocaine or a similar anesthetic should notify us in advance of treatment so that our office can order the lidocaine-free product. Patients on blood thinners may only stop them with permission of their internist or cardiologist. Depending on the patient’s situation, Dr. Mandal has performed Restylane® treatment on patients with blood thinners without side effects other than the increased risk of bruising.
The results from Restylane® are seen immediately. Swelling is often mild but may take several days to settle. Being in the hands of an Expert Injector, most of Dr. Mandal’s patients have no downtime and bruising is rare. Makeup can be worn immediately after treatment.
Results can last anywhere from 6 months or 18 months depending on how fast one resorbs the Restylane®, the areas treated, and the amount of product injected.
For patients desiring added protection from the risk of bruising, we offer the Ihance post-injection serum with patented TriHex technology to accelerate recovery as well as minimize bruising and swelling.
As an Expert Injector, Dr. Mandal frequently performs combination treatments using different types of Restylane® as well as Restylane® and other fillers, laser, Botox, or surgery for enhanced results. Popular combinations include:
- Micro-botox plus Restylane® Silk for treatment of static and dynamic lip lines
- The layering of different Restylanes for deep and superficial nasolabial folds as well as marionette lines
- The layering of different types of Restylane® for cheek hollows
