Introduction to Derma PRP

Derma PRP is a next-generation natural plasma bio-filler that is derived from your own blood. Unlike PRP injections, Derma PRP gel combines platelet-rich plasma (PRP) with your albumin, one of your body’s most abundant natural proteins. Unlike conventional PRP or PRF fillers that typically go away in 1-2 months and mainly improve skin texture, Derma PRP gel offers the superior benefits of effective facial volume replenishment and can also last much longer. In recent years, patients have been preferring “natural” over “synthetic” fillers, making Derma PRP one of our most requested filler treatments.

At Mandal Plastic Surgery in Palm Beach, FL, Dr. Anita Mandal uses this innovative plasma-based bio-filler for patients who want natural, safe, and long-lasting volume and improvement of wrinkles.

What is Derma PRP?

Derma PRP gel is a type of regenerative treatment where the highly concentrated platelets release growth factors that stimulate collagen growth. The albumin mixed with the PRP provides a structural lattice that is a scaffold for the collagen produced.

How is Derma PRP made?

It starts with a simple blood draw. This tube of blood is then spun in a centrifuge, which separates the plasma from red and white blood cells as well as various inflammatory markers. The resulting plasma is packed with a high concentration of platelets along with albumin. This PRP-Albumin mixture is then heated and cooled under very specific conditions to denature and reconstruct the albumin protein lattice, resulting in a gel-like structural lattice for support and volume.

When injected into specific areas of the face, Derma PRP becomes activated and bio-stimulates collagen to improve skin texture, along with volume replenishment that can last 9 to 12 months.

Derma PRP vs. Traditional PRP

Traditional PRP treatments use your body’s platelets to improve skin texture, whereas Derma PRP takes it to the next level by additionally restoring volume that is much longer lasting.

What Are the Benefits of Derma PRP?

Unlike synthetic fillers, Derma PRP is a natural bio-filler that is a preferred choice by many patients at Mandal Plastic Surgery in Palm Beach because it can:

  • Restore volume
  • Improve the elasticity of aging skin
  • Minimize fine lines and wrinkles
  • Diminish acne scars and other surface imperfections
  • Brighten dull or uneven complexions
  • Improve skin texture

A key feature of Derma PRP is the natural, gradual improvement. You are not going to walk out looking like someone else. Instead, you will notice your skin becoming smoother, firmer, and more refreshed.

Who Are the Best Candidates for Derma PRP?

Derma PRP is ideal for individuals who are starting to notice early signs of aging and want a gentle, nonsurgical option to slow down the aging process. Good candidates are generally in good health, do not have major blood disorders, and are looking for natural results that enhance rather than alter their appearance.

It is also an excellent choice for patients who want to avoid synthetic fillers or more invasive procedures. If you are interested in a natural treatment that works from the inside out, Derma PRP could be your new favorite go-to.

During your consultation, Dr. Mandal will evaluate your skin quality and facial volume and advise whether Derma PRP is a good option for your facial rejuvenation needs.

Popular concerns and treatment areas addressed include:

  • Fine lip or smoker’s lines
  • Deep nasolabial folds
  • Ptotic mouth corners
  • Marionette lines
  • Lower eyelid hollows
  • Hollow cheeks or temples
  • Aged skin texture
  • Thin lips

Most treatments take under about an hour and tend to be easily tolerated by patients.

Derma PRP FAQs

Is Derma PRP Painful?

The majority of our Palm Beach patients report only minimal discomfort. Sometimes, a numbing cream can be applied before injections begin. The injection process can be quick.

How Many Appointments Will I Need?

Many of our patients tend to see the longest and best results after two treatments, typically 1 month apart. After completing your initial series, occasional maintenance sessions – just like synthetic fillers – are recommended to help preserve your results.

How Long Until I See the Results?

Derma PRP results do not appear overnight, but that is what makes them so natural-looking. Improvements usually begin to show within three to four weeks, with full results developing over the next few months. As collagen continues to rebuild, your skin or hair gradually improves in tone, texture, and volume.

Can I Combine Derma PRP with Other Procedures?

Yes, and it is often encouraged! Derma PRP works well with microneedling, skin tightening, skin resurfacing, and surgery.

It is also commonly paired with Radiesse, BOTOX, or some of our laser treatments, like Erbium, to help enhance your overall results.

Here at Mandal Plastic Surgery, we will help you build a comprehensive plan that blends Derma PRP with other services in a safe and effective way.
